Sheltowee Artisans (Turtles on the Green)

"Sheltowee" is what the Native Americans named Daniel Boone. It meant
"Big Turtle." The Sheltowee Artisans, a prestigious arts guild based
in Somerset, Kentucky, took their name from this pioneer, over a
decade ago. Since then, the guild has slowly and steadily built up an
appreciation for, and a resurgence of, fine art and crafts in the
region. 2008 marks the 8th year the Sheltowee Artisans have had a
presence at MMF.

Among the exhibiting Sheltowee Artisans, there will also be a few
contemporary artists who will take old mediums like stained glass,
silk, and metal and transform them into modern works in windows,
jewelry and wearable art.
