THE FELICE BROTHERS
Roughneck up-and-comers The Felice Brothers had a banner year in 2008 with an acclaimed album and an excellent show at Bonnaroo. Touring stints with one of MMF’s favorites, Old Crow Medicine Show, these three brothers –Ian, James and Simone- got our attention with their raucous sets and whisky-throated vocals. Their distinct brand of songwriting and the lawless sound they've forged has earned them comparisons to Woodie Guthrie, a young Springsteen and to the Scorsese film, Gangs of New York. The Felice Brothers travel the world performing homegrown and gritty Americana on the city stages as if they were hosting a sing-along on their own front porch surrounded by family and friends or playing the backroom of a dusty tavern. The sound that emerges from their instruments is seeped with an instinctive authenticity that’s rooted in tradition.
